Work Process

The project Archival Comic centered around creating a story about one of the projects documented within the Ars Electronica Archive in Linz. It was a collaborative effort with three people in total (me included) working on it. For our comic we choose the project Divine Machinery (linked below), which explores themes of transhumanism, creator vs machine and so on.

At first we analysed the installation. What was the goal? What are questions this projects wants to ask? Then we discussed themes that may interest us personally and aligned those with one another. Each one of us began sketching rough storyboards to see how our interpretation would go. Then we put them all together and sectioned of the work so that everything was split equally in terms of complexity of frames and frame amount.

Out of all the projects I have been a part of so far this one was the most straightforward for me personally. From my impression every idea was considered and deliberated in equal measure. The goal for all of us was to find something in the installation that would make a great comic and with some interesting discussions surrounding the theme we managed to do that.
